The St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation provides financial support to the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital by funding the purchase of equipment, or programming that enhance patient care, research or medical education for staff of Nova Scotia Health for St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Community. The Foundation Board and Staff are committed to protecting the privacy of all our donors and potential supporters.

 How Do We Acquire Your Information?

 When you make a donation to the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation, purchase a Hospital Help Day ticket, or participate in one of our programs or events you provide us with your information.

Information about you such as your name, address, telephone number, email address, donation history and other relevant information becomes part of our database and files system. The St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation is responsible for the personal information about you that we collect. To ensure accountability, we have developed this policy and trained our personnel about our practices and procedures.


 Please note that the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation does not have access to patient records and medical information within the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, any part of Nova Scotia Health or any other private or public medical clinic or facility.


 How Do We Use Your Information?

 The information you share with us is collected for the following purposes:

·         To provide you with information about the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation and its activities;

·         To provide you with appropriate recognition;

·         To comply with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines; and

·         To provide you with further opportunities to support the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation.


The St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation does not sell, lease, trade or share your information with anyone. Only generalized statistics may be shared or reported. Personal information about our donors is stored in a password protected database and manual filing system within the confines of our offices. All staff members sign a confidentiality agreement as part of their employment contract. Additionally, all Board of Directors sign a confidentiality agreement.

 Recognizing Your Donations

 St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation produces various reports, publications and social media posts throughout the year to highlight the work being done. Annually the Foundation publishes two larger reports (‘Keeping Connected Annual Community Report” and the “Annual Report”) to inform the public and our donors of their gifts at work and to show accountability by disclosing our audited financial statements. Some of our reports, publications and social media highlight donors and generalized gifts. Other donor recognition could include media releases and donor lists.

All donors are provided with the opportunity to keep their contributions to the St Martha’s Regional Hospital Foundation anonymous.
